Lucy specialises in portraiture. She works in oils, pencil and gouache on board, paper or vellum. She has trained with leading experts in gold leaf gilding, learning the heritage art of medieval adhesive making by hand and the handling and preparing of vellum.
Lucy uses the illuminating effect of pure gold leaf as well as the language of symbolic imagery to add narrative and meaning. She creates emotive images, which capture the soul of the sitter, tell a story and often challenge our understanding of the world around us today.
Composed to be enjoyed from both afar and up close, Lucy focuses on detail and realism. She creates pieces that will not only delight aesthetically but also endure through time and be cherished by those who hold them for many generations to come.
As well as training as an artist, Lucy worked as a lawyer having read Law at the University of Cambridge. She lives in the Cotswolds with her paintbrushes, husband, three daughters, two cats and five hens.
